![]() Simple ways to keep your oil painting in top shape: Oil paintings traditionally take 1 year to completely dry. When I finish an original oil painting, I generally allow it to dry for two weeks and then spray a Damar Retouch Varnish clear coat to protect the painting for the first year or two. As the oil dries it will begin to darken in some areas and this is a normal process. Of course it looks terrible but after a year you can go to an art supply store in your area and order Damar Final Varnish Gloss. Follow the instructions on the spray can. Simple Steps:
